Metron Health

Celebrating Over 35 Years...

Marvin PiersmaMr. Marvin L. Piersma, Founder

Metron Integrated Health Systems history started more than 35 years ago with the purchase of its Metron of Lamont facility by Mr. Marvin L. Piersma.  Mr. Piersma had a vision to provide patients with the best care available, in an innovative manner, and in an environment that is most conducive to healing. His vision was that health care for the individual is more than just the physical, but includes the spiritual, emotional, and social purposes of the individual.

At Metron of Lamont, most of the sub-acute rehabilitation patient rooms have a direct access bedside view of the Grand River. It is wonderfully scenic and a sanctuary for healing.  Nearly six years later in 1984 and again in 2010, the studies1 were published that confirmed Mr. Piersma’s vision that the natural setting of wildlife and river view/noise improves healing for post-surgical patients. Mr. Piersma’s unique West Michigan setting continues to offer patients these distinct healing advantages. In each successive acquisition, Mr. Piersma sought unique advantages that would further his vision of being able to provide exceptional service for patients. Mr. Piersma enjoyed a reputation of consistently being a leader in the development of new services that better meet patients’ needs.

In addition to his responsibilities at Metron, Mr. Piersma was involved in the professional community. He served on the board of Health Care Association of Michigan, including a term as President. Mr. Piersma received his Bachelors Degree in Business from Aquinas College.
